personal health craze

I have been surrounded by people proclaiming the evils of gluten: grogginess, slow thinking, tiredness, stomach aches, aches in the head (commonly referred to as head aches), lack of motivation, ugliness, and the list continues...

Gluten has been lashan hara'd!! (did i speel that right?)  My thoughts on gluten have forever been tainted.  All of a sudden im noticing that i feel groggy and tired after eating a whole papa johns pizza.  I used to never notice!

Of course eating a whole pizza didn't use to phase me when i was younger...  was it that i was younger or that i was working construction?  Anyway, my current job is way less physical.  the complete opposite of working out...  now instead of lifting 2x4's and cement blocks during the day i sit at night and watch youth sleep for 10 hours.  it's about the same energy expenditure as watching grass grow!!

So, my ears perked up, ever so slightly, when my health conscious/preachy friend E-train casually mentioned something at the Tikkun Conference...  (ps, i love e-train)

E-train may or may not have mentioned that i could be ripped in a few months if i went gluten free and i may or may not have really rethought my anti-anti-gluten stance...

Some may take this as a vain reason to pursue a healthier diet.  To them i say...  actually i got nothing.  I dont care if its vain.

All that to say im trying to go as much gluten free as i possibly can stand for a week and see what happens.  Here is a wee story addressed to those who may 'nay say' my resolve:

Today a young man and his beautiful and much acclaimed girlfriend went on a date.  They went to a popular sandwich shop and purchased two 'sandwiches.'  Approaching the cashier the young man gave his order.  This order bewildered the friendly cashier.  "Such a strong, handsome, masculine man surely couldn't be ordering this" thought the cashier, "i better make sure he hasn't misspoken." The cashier politely raised his head and addressed the young man.  "Sir, was that a hunter's club unwich you ordered?"  The young man's proud smile said it all, "Yeah Buddy!! im going lettuce Baby!!"
The young man took the food to loose park with his beautiful girlfriend, and they both enjoyed there sandwich and unwich, respectively.  - true story

I ate an unwich today and i liked it.  How's that for resolve?

Now, can anyone tell me if Cliff Bars have gluten in them?

  1. Welcome aboard, J! I'm proud of you for giving it a go. I too was surprisingly pleased with the unwich. Way to go, Jimmy John's.

  2. I'm going to have Sean read this. Today we spoke negatively of bread in his presence and he was aghast. He may be joining the anti-gluten club soon...once his shock wears off, that is.
