Gd as a girl?

blasphemous?

We talk a lot about Gd being a lover.  Song of Solomon describes the Lrd as romancing His people.  i've often thought it must be easier for women to experience Him this way.   im a dude and its weird to think of Gd as romancing me even though i know He's not technically a dude.

Partly because ive always wondered and partly because im on a dating fast and not thinking about girls i did a little thinking...

If Gd was a girl and i had a crush on Her would She like me back?

flip side.

If Gd was a girl and She had a crush on me would i like Her back?

Check it-
the first question excites me and fills me with wonder.  Of course i want Her! Shes perfect but will She like me?  What can i do to make her notice and want me?

the second question fills me with dread.  The most attractive girl wants me?  Shes singling me out?  What can i do to disappear? Of course i want Her but i'm afraid.  She's so confident and with it and i will be so nervous and probably do or say something stupid.  i'll have very little control of myself let alone our relationship.  It could get out of hand quick.  I could end up doing anything She wants!  Stay cool, stay calm...  dont want to let anybody know your freaking out... Especially not Her.

Oh but i want Her sooooooooooo bad!!!

Who is this Gd who knows my weakness, nakedness, and imperfections but still wants me?  Who is this Gd who is such a joy to think about and love but yet so scary and uncontrollable?  Shes the most popular person in the world but She has cleared her schedule just to meet with me?

Thinking of Gd as a girl certainly makes the dynamic a lot more emotional...  i have some processing to do...
Questions, comments, blasphemy accusations?

  2. I think (I'm not much of an authority) that this is a great exercise.

He does love you in that passionate, romantic way that we all desire, he just happens to be described in masculine terms mostly. A more Hebraic understanding would probably allow us more freedom in seeing the complexities of G-D, his "gender" being one issue that requires more exploration. Go, Jeremy! It's just like that song we sing, he wants to give us wet sloppy kisses because he loves us. Oh how he loves us.

  3. First I agree with both of the girls before me! Also, I think it's interesting to pursue G-d as a lover in general. I know many girls that struggle with it. I think G-d wants to reveal Himself to you in many ways and He'll do lots of things to be able to conquer your own predispositions of Him. So let Him reveal Himself to you. What is He saying now?
